This is not one cop, this is dozens and dozens of cops over the years.

Forgive the pun, but "citation needed."

Are you driving a flashing pink ferrari convertible or something? Are you "Africa" black? Do you regularly drive with a ski mask on and have a giant "fuck the police" decal on your bumper? If not, I have a hard time believing you.

He most likely got overtime to be at court that day, and given what I saw, probably had multiple cases that very same day.

No idea how other states handle it, but my brother isn't paid for showing up to his court dates. And yes, all of his court cases for any particular month will happen typically on one or two days, almost always on his days off. There are a LOT of places where cops are regular no-shows for speeding tickets, precisely because they don't get paid to come to court. I know that Texas is one of those places. You have at least a 50/50 chance of getting your ticket expunged if you show up at court, because there is at least a 50/50 chance that the officer won't bother to show. Of course maybe 10% of people actually come to court when they get a speeding ticket, so that is why the cops don't show a lot of the time unless they have to be there for a "real" case.

I was driving around a white sports car, with white rims, carbon fiber hood, race exhaust, etc. I was young and thought it was cool to spend all my money on flashy fast cars. And yes, admittedly I did speed on many occasions. I am not arguing about those occasions, because I chose to speed and was caught. I am arguing against all the other times I was cited and was not speeding or doing anything wrong. Just because I was speeding the day before, does not give the police the right to lie the next day. I am also a white male by the way, so it's not profiling based upon my race.

I live in Arizona, and many of the cities pay the officers overtime to show up to a court date if it's on their day off. I've fought every ticket I have ever gotten, and the officer has shown up every single time. So perhaps it's different in other states, or for other people, but not me.

How have you been able to maintain a drivers license over the years with "dozens and dozens" of various traffic tickets?

I have lost my license before based upon points. It sucked, and the incident in question was one of the ones that added to the points on that occasion. 6 months without driving! I grew up, sold the sports car, and now drive around a Nissan Xterra that gets much less attention. And yes, I still speed, which is irrelevant to false accusations on other occasions. I'm sorry, but I am not going to justify being wrongfully accused because I sped on other occasions. That is not how our justice system is supposed to work!

I guess what I'm saying is that I don't believe your claims any more than I do those of the racist cop who pistol-whipped this boy.

No worries, it's not like the internet is completely trustworthy. I just told an anecdotal story on the topic. It is true, but you are more than welcome to disagree.

The Chicago City Council just voted 43-2 to decriminalize possession of marijuana.

Replying to slybrows · He should have said that it's already de-criminalized if you're white *in Chicago*. The cops here are pretty. fucking. racist.

All the Chicago cops are pretty? Damn!

Earth’s richest 1,000 individuals now control as much wealth as the poorest 2.5 billion people on the planet. This super elite uses its vast wealth to control the media, influence politicians, and bend laws to their favor.

While I agree, the poverty line here in the US is slightly higher than many countries. I've seen things in Egypt, Mexico, India, Africa etc. that are on a whole other scale.

While I agree medical costs are out of control, I have a hard time believing that your grandfather's 3 weeks stay cost $17 million!

Is it true? Did the baby-boomers take advantage of the social programs their parents created and cemented, then voted to dismantle those same benefits for their children in the name of freedom, individual responsibility, and more benefits for themselves? Can a generation be that selfish?

This is what I was thinking. Perhaps the cycles will shift or change entirely, given our new ability to transfer knowledge faster. Why do the cycles always have to be the same, or happen at all, regardless of innovation
