Cop claimed aggressive youth who swung at him had reached for his gun, at which point he fired his gun at the youth in self defense. Newly released surveillance footage.. shows cop running up behind the youth, then smashing him in the head with his gun in a surprise attack...

Note: Finger DOES NOT need to be on the trigger to sent the weapon off when smacked (in this case on the victim's head) on something hard.
This is why they make weapons for striking and designated zones to hit...
Edit: I like all the down votes from people that think a weapon is not foul able. Even the replies say "most," even if all the safety features are in them, a weapon can have a mechanical failure.
I personally have seen a "modern"(depending on who you talk to) M4 go off when the buttstock was tapped. While it does not have the “features” of the pistols that have been mentioned, its taught me that muzzle awareness is of the utmost importance.
In the end every weapon is loaded and about to go off... smacking someone in the head with one is not the proper way to use one.

What guns are you using?!? No way I would carry a weapon that would discharge without pulling the trigger. The police are not using Chinese knock off guns! Most likely it was a 40 cal Glock, or perhaps a Baretta 9mm. Both of those will not discharge without pulling the trigger.
