Cop claimed aggressive youth who swung at him had reached for his gun, at which point he fired his gun at the youth in self defense. Newly released surveillance footage.. shows cop running up behind the youth, then smashing him in the head with his gun in a surprise attack...

Exactly, which is why you gotta get the numbers from him on the side of the road. The officer is obligated to tell you why you're being pulled over. If it's "my radar said you were going 79 in a 65," that's easy, but if it's visual conformation, you should be entitled to the math behind it.
There's no way, on the side of the road, he shits out anything close to a coherent equation for measuring your speed. As a bonus, bring a stopwatch to court and ask him to count to 60 out loud. When he's not within a whole row of assholes of 1:00, use it as evidence of error in his calculations.

Damn, I was young at the time and was apparently not prepared for the dumbfuckery that police will bring. I should have thought of something like that! He probably had a script for it though. He did mention that he cross referenced his estimations with his speedometer. I was just so upset at the time that I got flustered. I wasn't trained how to handle evidence in court, and he knew that. He also knew that I would not get a lawyer for a traffic offense. Such a shitty situation!
