Cop claimed aggressive youth who swung at him had reached for his gun, at which point he fired his gun at the youth in self defense. Newly released surveillance footage.. shows cop running up behind the youth, then smashing him in the head with his gun in a surprise attack...

Unfortunately, he laughed at you because you admitted guilt in front of the judge when you asked him what reason he had for breaking the law. The problem is that it was YOUR court date, and not his, and because he wasn't charged with anything that was being discussed that day, the only possible outcomes were YOU being found guilty or innocent. The traffic judge knows that (statistically) you were both speeding, and that he has 100 other cases to deal with that day. The cop isn't on trial, or charged with anything (did you file charges against him for speeding/reckless driving/public endangerment?)

If he isn't the defendant, then it doesn't matter to the judge what he was doing. By essentially saying "you were speeding if I was speeding," you gave the judge an easy out to end the case right there and move on with his miserable day.

I did not admit I was speeding though, I was just paraphrasing. Even if I was going the speed limit, he was gaining distance on me, then slammed on his breaks. I realize that he was not on trial, and the judge said that. I was just dumbfounded at the whole situation! I was frustrated and was questioning his judgement by putting my safety in danger by slamming on his breaks on the freeway. Admittedly I am not a lawyer, but I never admitted speeding. I was denying it the whole time, and even had a witness that corroborated my story. I guess my girlfriend has less credence than a certified officer. It was just so frustrating!
