Has anyone else noticed a difference in efficacy between the old NMN tablets (sized like a small cylinder) versus the new one (sized like a small disc)?
I thought it was placebo at first, but with the old NMN, I noticed a profound increase in energy and well being. With the new NMN (disc shape), I notice nothing.
Thinking I may be tricking myself, I experimented on my wife. When I give her the old NMN, her energy noticeably improved. When I give her the new one, no difference.
I’m curious if anyone else has had this experience. I know /u/MisterYouAreSoDumb has mentioned the enteric coating on the new NMN is superior, but I can’t help but notice my consistent, personal experience.
UPDATE (Feb 2022)
They must have gone through several iterations, because the magic is back on my latest purchase. I’ve seen 3 different tablets — the cylinder (original), a larger flat circle with a powdery exterior, and the most recent, a smaller circle with a smoother exterior.
The only version that didn’t work for me was the one with the powdery exterior. The newest version works GREAT, perhaps even better than the original.

THATS WHAT I CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE! This man on a few customers concerns… Is gonna run a whole ass double blind with his team just to see what’s going on. WHILE doing a deep analysis of the chemical structures to see ANY differences. If that ain’t a GOLD standard…I don’t know a single other supplement business owner that’s doing this much. OUTSTANDING.

I am passionate about this industry, this community, and the science myself, so getting to the bottom of things is always what I try to do. We sell shit to fund our science operations, not the other way around. Advancing our understanding of the science behind human enhancement, and advancing the lab testing and quality control standards of the industry, are the only real reasons I started this company to begin with. Frankly, my passion for the science is really the only thing that has kept me going all these years. Selling products in this industry is a massive drain mentally. There are just so many bad actors. So much fraud. So much lying. It's exhausting. If I was not passionate about the science in the background, I likely would have moved on years ago. So getting to the bottom of things like this, while frustrating at times, is all part of advancing the science and our understanding of things.
The testing of the new tablets in acidic simulated gastric fluid performed flawlessly. We saw no breakdown of the tablets in SGF after 4 hours. This means the enteric coating is working as it should.
After the SGF, the tablet were put into a neutral simulated intestinal fluid. They started breaking down at the 2 hour mark, and fully broke down at 2.5 hours. This means they are preforming perfectly there, too. The tablets are protected from the acidic environment of the stomach. Once they move to the neutral environment of the small intestine, they dissolve fully and deliver the NMN directly to the Slc12a8 transporters located there. Because they break down fully once reaching the small intestine, the issues some people were having of passing through in stool should not be an issue with the new formulation.
