NMN formulation change

Has anyone else noticed a difference in efficacy between the old NMN tablets (sized like a small cylinder) versus the new one (sized like a small disc)?
I thought it was placebo at first, but with the old NMN, I noticed a profound increase in energy and well being. With the new NMN (disc shape), I notice nothing.
Thinking I may be tricking myself, I experimented on my wife. When I give her the old NMN, her energy noticeably improved. When I give her the new one, no difference.
I’m curious if anyone else has had this experience. I know /u/MisterYouAreSoDumb has mentioned the enteric coating on the new NMN is superior, but I can’t help but notice my consistent, personal experience.
UPDATE (Feb 2022)
They must have gone through several iterations, because the magic is back on my latest purchase. I’ve seen 3 different tablets — the cylinder (original), a larger flat circle with a powdery exterior, and the most recent, a smaller circle with a smoother exterior.
The only version that didn’t work for me was the one with the powdery exterior. The newest version works GREAT, perhaps even better than the original.

Is the supplement industry in US regulated? Does the government care what these companies sell to people? I guess big pharmas have to test their own stuff before selling it?
Other sup companies might be incentivized not to test because it costs a lot of money. If millions of $$ a year is required to make the science right, you have to make more than that to profit and keep going. And even if someone like ND points out the products from other companies are fraud, people would probably not care, they don't know whom to trust.
I bought 2 bottles of NOW FOOD bromelain 120 capsules, one from iherb and the other from amazon. Opened one of them right away, initially it smelled sweet, so I assume that's good. Put the opened one in a dry and cool place, a few months later I opened it again, it smells exactly like white vinegar(fermentation?), and it's so strong! Guess what, I then opened the other bottle which remained unopened, and it also smells like rancid! I reported the bad QC to Amazon, Amazon issued me $10 courtesy credit since it passed return window. I dumped the pills.

Regulated doesn't mean enforced. We are extremely regulated. We have tons of regulations that we need to follow. However, the FDA selectively enforces them. Out of the nearly 81,000 registered facilities in the US, the FDA only inspected 275 in the last year...
So it is not that supplements are not regulated. We have shitloads of regulations we have to follow by law. It's that the FDA is not actively and evenly enforcing those regulations. This is incentive for companies to just break the rules and see what they can get away with. The likelihood that the FDA will come in and inspect your facility is astronomically low.
