Paul Stamets

Danngggg, didn't know this about him. Found this post from 4 years ago, and people were talking about the rice flour then too (and his weird vibes).

Dude even said his comment was marked as spam by Stamets. Definitely makes me view him and his products wait differently.

I've been trying to fight this misinformation for years.

I that comment from this past December I also link comments from myself on /r/Nootropics from 4-5 years ago. This is a fight I have been involved in for quite some time now. He has been misleading people for decades now. I was misled myself. Before I started this company I bought Host Defense products because of his reputation. I didn't know any better at the time. What really pisses me off is that you have people dealing with serious things like cancer that read about research on turkey tail or reishi mushroom, then go and buy his ground up rice mixed with mycelium and think they are getting the same thing. They are not! They are totally different things, and it should be illegal to call something a mushroom when it is not a mushroom. In fact, it is. The FDA has come out and explicitly stated that you can't call the mycelium of a mushroom a mushroom, since it is in a different life stage. You also certainly can't bring out a product that is over 75 rice by mass and call it a mushroom! It's nuts!

That being said, I am not discounting Paul Stamet's contributions to the world of mycology. Nobody has done more than he has to popularize these mushrooms in the west. He was a pioneer in that aspect, and he clearly knows mycology. That's what makes it even more egregious to me, though! He should know better! He does know better! He is willfully misleading people because he can't admit his is wrong on the subject. Listen to the discussion/debates he has had with the owner of Nammex over the years. Stamets is clearly acting in bad faith and ignoring the scientific data to suit his business goals.

I have said proper lab testing and quality control is important for the industry. Whether or not that proper lab testing is being done by a 3rd party lab or an in-house lab depends on the specific lab, if they are ISO ce
