To start, Paul Stamets is acting in bad faith to try and distract people from the fact he is selling mostly ground up rice and calling it a mushroom. He has to try and change the topic so people stop talking about how his products are garbage and improperly labeled. Don't fall for his distraction tactics. Things being made in China is only bad if you don't verify them. It's like anything else. This is why we have the ISO certified analytical lab that we do, and go as crazy with QC analysis. You have to analyze and verify things to ensure they are in spec. You have to pick good partners over there, set your specs yourself, then hold those partners accountable for meeting your stringent specs. If you leave them to their own devices, they will cut corners. The same goes for US or European vendors, too. It's up to us to ensure we set our specs right, develop our own validated analytical methods to measure things, then test everything to death to ensure it always meets those specs. The main thing with Paul Stamets and his China distraction is heavy metals. Well we have some of the most stringent heavy metals specs of anyone in the world, and we test every single batch of raw material that enters our facility. We only use trusted farms in China that know our specs, know how we test, and know that we will reject anything they send us over those specs. This is why we get quality product. China makes good stuff. You just have to hold them accountable for doing it. Everyone we work with knows they can't get anything by us. We test too much for that, so they don't even try. We even have them developing in-process pre-testing steps for us now, because they know we will reject anything that is not perfect. It saves them money if they can catch things out of spec early and rectify them. They have also specifically told us that they reserve the highest spec batches for us, and sell the other ones to other vendors that don't care as much. We have even had batches that have been sent to us that we tested and found were out of spec, so we rejected them. Then they had us ship them directly to one of their other customers in the US, because those customers don't care about quality as much. It's all in the expectations you set with your partners, the quality and level of testing you do to ensure things are in spec, and the diligence to ensure things are perfect every time. That's what we do.
Furthermore, these mushrooms have been used in China for literally thousands of years. No country on the planet has more experience and history of use with these mushrooms. To act like any mushroom from China is bad is just asinine. Traditional Chinese medicine has been perfecting and using these mushrooms longer than the United States has even existed as a country. For someone like Paul Stamets to write off the entire country like that is just willful propaganda in an attempt to distract people from how shitty his products are. On top of that, you can get bad batches from US vendors just like you can China. It's the quality control and testing that makes the difference. That's the entire reason I started this company, and everyone knows if there is even a slight doubt that something is not perfect, I hold it back and do everything in our power to ensure we verify that it is before okaying for sale to customers.
