may or may not be the place for this, but the dose recommendation for mag glycinate powdered form is 1200 mg twice daily with a 14% elemental magnesium content. This seems like a lot, does this seem like too large of a dose?

Magnesium glycinate is only 14% magnesium, with the rest being glycine. The RDA for magnesium is 400mg for men and 320 for women. 1,200mg of our glycinate, twice daily, gives you 336mg magnesium. That's a good middle ground between men and women's RDA. It's also divisible by what we can fit in a 00 capsule. You can certainly take less if your diet is giving you enough magnesium to make up your RDA. Just be aware that 75% of Americans are not getting enough magnesium in their diets; likely due to a number of factors like soil depletion and poor eating choices. So 1,200mg twice daily is a very reasonable suggestion; especially for men.
