Inflamed Liver from Nootropics

Original post in this thread

I'm a 50 year old male, in decent shape, slightly elevated cholesterol but no other major health issues, rarely drink, no recreational drug use. I recently became interested in Nootropics to combat anxiety, stress, and fatigue. Being a Lawyer I need every edge I can get in the day to day. So I read the Nootropic Blogs, watched dozens of videos and read hundreds of pages on this Reddit Feed. Having done the research I started taking the following (all of which I bought at Nootropics Depot). My first week I started taking Lion's Mane then introduced each Noot 1 by 1 every couple of days, then finally taking the following Stack over 3 weeks:

Lions Mane 500 mg - 1x/dayCDP Citicholine 250 mg - 1x/dayL-Theanine 200mg - 1x/dayRhodolea Rosea 500mg - 1x/dayOxiracetam 750mg - 1x/dayNoopept 10mg (caused brain fog after 3 days / discontinued)Fish Oil (daily)L-Tyrosine 500mg (caused brain fog after 2 days / discontinued)

At around the 3 week mark, I developed pain and burning on my lower right side/flank which radiated into my back, and my belly and side became swollen. Found myself urinating every hour. Went to my Doc right away. He did blood work which showed increase liver enzymes. He the…

What they were answering

I'm sorry for the late reply. Reddit did not post my comment initially so I was not aware that the a thread had been started. As you your comment, why would I have reached out to your company before going to my Doctor? What was or is your company going to do? Should I go to a lab to have your products tested? To answer your question, I do not drink alcohol regularly nor do I take NSAIDs or Tylenol for any condition. As I stated in my comment earlier I had routine blood work done about 1 month before and all of my results (including liver) came back clean. It was only after I started taking Noots did I start to have an issue and repeated the tests only to see I had increased liver enzymes. A subsequent ultrasound showed and enlarged and inflamed liver. Am I saying your products are somehow to blame? I don't know the answer, only that I know the Stack that I was taking caused my issues.

No worries on the late reply.

If you give me your lot numbers, I can pull up all the lab data for those batches to verify. We can even pull retained and do an investigation. You are of course free to send them to a lab if you would like to, too. We do extensive testing on everything we sell, so I have no doubt they will find everything is as it should be. However, you would probably trust a different lab more than our data. Even so, if you think one or multiple of our products led to an adverse event, altering us to the details of it helps us to investigate and potentially assist in finding the root cause.
