Yeah, the AA-Semax looks like the most efficacious route. I completely understand the dilemma of having to outsource the AA synth. I'm surprised that it is expensive/difficult as it's a fairly common fatty acid? Though admittedly I haven't looked at the molecule in a long time. Does it have multiple chiral centers?
What about Palmitoylation? Would that still pass the BBB and still work? I know they are completely different fatty acids, just musing.
At first I thought, Glypromate, meh. Probably won't do much for someone that's not post trauma, but then I saw the IGF-1 part which intrigued me as well.
Have you heard of HFDL-6? This one I am more curious about your thoughts than any other molecule mentioned. I sent 2 links about it in the PM. It looks to be Russia's latest attempt with peptide therapeutics, being developed as a 2nd gen "Semax" type drug. If you're unfamiliar with it, please throw it into pubmed and check out the ridiculous amount of studies showing benefits across a plethora of health issues. (Alzheimer's, opiate addiction, depression, etc.) It's an Amidated Hexapeptide fragment. Here's a very novel property of it, somehow it's activity in the brain both increases testosterone, and decreases conversion to DHT. Anyways, LMK what I'm missing because this looks way too great for it to have no discussions posted?

Yeah, I was surprised too. The bulk AA that we got just would not work in the solid phase peptide synthesis. Not sure why.

It could work. That would be similar to creating AA-Semax, but with palmitic acid. No idea on effects, though.
