Problem with alcohol (respectfully) is that with younger kids, their pre-frontal lobes are still growing, which aids in the higher executive functions. Alcohol inhibits these functions and leads to risky behavior.

This has less to do with binge drinking than chronic acceptance. Our prefrontal lobe formation is important to keep benefit to risk assessment at socially healthy levels.
I'm all for exploring mind expanding drugs, but when evidence comes in, I have to err on the side of caution when it's staring me in the face.

I agree, there are a lot of risks to developing brains. However, I am of the mindset that these decisions should rest on the individual and parents. I'm not willing to write off parenthood just yet, even though most are sorry excuses. If we regulate everything with restrictions, we create populace that grows up resenting rules. In the long run that is counter productive. We need better education and transparency so that people can make informed and responsible decisions on their own.
