Less is More

I wanted to mention this idea as it applies pretty centrally to the concept of nootropics and stacks

Pretty frequently, I will see posts looking for people to critique absurdly massive stacks that include quite a variety of nootropics and supplements. Oftentimes, the poster will not even remember why one of the things is included in the stack

While it is evident that there are plenty of nootropics that go hand in hand and have a fair amount of synergy, it is also important to remember that quantity != quality.

Sure, if your massive stack works for you and achieves what you're looking, keep taking it.

But with more parts included, there comes more risk, and less of an ability to evaluate each individual nootropic.

By risk, I don't necessarily mean the stack is going to kill you, I mean that the risk of feeling bad, or having weird side effects is heightened.

Evaluation is of equal importance as well, as I often will see people tempted to simply jump right into a stack, without testing out the individual parts alone. This is never a good idea, because if the stack achieves whatever goal you were seeking, it is likely that not everything was essential to…

Totally agree with this. I would recommend people trying ingredients by themselves in order to build a stack that they react well to. I've never understood the mentality to use absurd doses of ingredients when, more often not, you're just going to get diminishing returns and spike the hell out of your tolerance.

This is a big problem I am seeing with people new to nootropics. They want to immediately jump into a stack, and do not want to put in the time to try thing by themselves, and see how each one affects them in isolation. So not only are they not getting the most efficient stack for them, but they are missing the point of what nootropics is about. It's about a methodical approach to finding what works best for their own brain chemistry, and expanding their knowledge of how to safely enhance their cognition.

Everything is so black and white to people these days. I see people say that X compound is totally crap, and does nothing, since it did not work for them. Then they tell people X is snake oil, and give up altogether, when another person says X compound worked fantastically for them. People just ignore the fact that brain chemistries vary wildly, and what works for one person might do nothing for another. That does not make the product "crap" or "fake" like many people love to shout. I know people that fall asleep on Adderall, and people that wake up on benzos. I know people who get zero effects from oxycodone, and people who get jittery from 50mg caffeine. Everyone is different, and people need to realize that before they can really get the most out of nootropics.

Has anyone tried Excelerol? I'm interested in trying it because it is apparently one of the best nootropics out there, but I'm a bit suspicious because I've never heard anyone talk about it on this subreddit.

What is the best nootropic for someone looking primarily for a boost of energy and motivation that's stronger than caffeine but less extreme than amphetamines?

Replying to [deleted] · In case anybody wants to accomplish this with drugs, I've been using 60mg vyvanse + 1g psilocybin mushrooms for a while. Take both with a hardy meal and 2 glasses of water.

Are you joking or serious? You take amphetamines and a low dose of psilocybin as nootropics?
