Nothing else has given me that side effect (or really any negative/neutral side effects other than my sweat started smelling like maple syrup after one fenugreek capsule). I could be wrong about what supplements hit which mechanisms, but off the top of my head polygala and tiger's milk mushroom are the two that I know would affect that. If fenugreek (bdnf, right?) and saffron extract do, those ones too. I don't think cognance hits ngf or bdnf, but if it does then that doesn't give me the side effect either.
C3g had an immediate very pronounced positive effect on my body as well and from what I remember from the podcast there's some mechanism that's downstream of bdnf or ngf release.
It's possible that any of those other supplements would have had a similar lasting beneficial effect for me the way lion's mane did, but I have no way to know because that was my first ND supplement. When I take LM now I don't notice any acute effects other than the side effect. When not taking it, my body and brain have not gone back to how they were before. However, I also haven't had an extended period where I haven't taken other supplements since that experience with LM.
I'm truly grateful and cannot thank you and your colleagues enough for the work you have done to create a company and products that consumers can trust. Are you hiring?

Damn, maple syrup after one capsule?!? That's the first I have heard of that! Another guy got it, but after taking a bunch of capsules regularly. Are you talking about our fenugreek capsules?

Polygala up-regulated the expression of TrkB and BDNF. Tiger milk mimics NGF. Fenugreek increases both NGF and BDNF. Saffron increases BDNF.

That's good to hear!

You know, we shouldn't rule out kappa opioid as the culprit. Perhaps that's the mechanism, rather than NGF/BDNF related. I will have to do some more testing on that.

I am glad our efforts are appreciated! I don't think we are hiring at the moment, but what is your expertise?
