Honestly, I've noticed that issue with it too and I don't believe it's psychosomatic. It doesn't give me lasting issues but (maybe nsfw:) >!erections are softer and orgasm is much worse!< on a day where I've taken one of the 8:1 extract capsules. After 1-2 days of taking a break, everything returns to normal. I had a similar thing happen as a teenager after 1-2 days of taking an SSRI back before I really understood that that could be a side effect of SSRIs. Maybe some of us just have weird body chemistry?
My past experiences with supplements from a drug store/Bulk Supplements was that none of them had a noticeable effect on my brain fog and fatigue. Same with prescription medication. I've generally been anti-supplements due to the lack of regulations around them. I read about ND and thought the company looked trustworthy enough that the products were at least what they said they were and not full of heavy metals.
I tried the 8:1 Lion's Mane extract (one capsule), not expecting it to have any effect on me whatsoever, and had what I can only describe as a mild psychedelic experience. I tried looking it up on the internet because as far as I knew there shouldn't really be any acute effects and definitely nothing like what I experienced. There were maybe 1 or 2 other people that mentioned something similar on reddit. That's never happened since the first time, but it somehow did…

SSRIs increase BDNF indirectly, so it could be something like that. However, it is weird you don't get that same effect from other things that hit BDNF and NGF. What all else have you taken that hits those mechanisms, but doesn't give you that side effect?
