Hey everyone, it's been a while since I have made a post in this sub. However, I saw a new research study today that I wanted to bring up. It highlights why my main mission over the past 10 years has been to not only advance the lab testing and quality control standards of the industry, but also to educate consumers on what to look out for, and how things work in the background. We are all ingesting these products! We are putting them into our bodies, so it's crucial that companies selling them do everything necessary to ensure they are what they claim to be, and are pure and free from contaminants. That is unfortunately the vast exception to the rule. Many of you may remember my post about turkesterone results from last year.
That whole situation blew way up, and every jabroni on YouTube was making videos about it. Some were saying I was a liar and fraud, and just trying to sell products. Some were saying I was in for massive lawsuits. Most were just doing it to get their 5 m…
What they were answering

It was fake Panax ginseng
So did they ever find out what was actually in the (capsules, I'm assuming) of the brand selling the fake ginseng?
I'm guessing you can only speak generally, but are most of the adulterated or fake supplements using (relatively) safe ingredients as filler? Or is it that they're buying their ingredients from sketchy suppliers and then don't test what they're putting in their products?
How much has been found to be actually toxic would you estimate?
Sorry for all the questions, this topic is really important for all of us and I can only imagine your frustration. There needs to be a national campaign to advertise the issues.

It was American ginseng cut with corn starch. Lots of products on the market claiming to be Panax ginseng are cheaper American ginseng cut with something. Real Panax ginseng is expensive. You can also tell by the types and ratios of ginsenosides. They're completely different between Panax and American.

Depends on which part of the market you are in. Preworkouts, bodybuilding, and male enhancement products? Those are usually adulterated with active pharmaceutical ingredients. It's usually synthetic stimulants for preworkouts, prohormones/SARMs for the bodybuilding side, and Viagra/Cialis for the male enhancement side. For regular supplements, it's usually about saving money, so they just cheap out on ingredients. Less harmful shit. More just not what they claim it to be. You will see heavy metals being high in a lot of regular supplements, especially from specific plants like bacopa and turmeric/curcumin. You will find pesticides or microbial contamination on whole non-extracted plant powders, too.
