Does chamomile tea work better than melatonin for anyone else?

I drank a cup of chamomile tea last night and it knocked me out and I didn’t have the awful effects of melatonin like next day grogginess (I get this even when I split my 1 mg pill in thirds). It’s weird because I’d never think an herbal tea would be more effective than a well known sleep aid

Mister, can you enlighten me about your knowledge on Matcha and it’s components (flavonoids/polyphenols)? I get such incredibly strong effects from matcha (I have dysautonomia and my feet often turn purple/red from blood pooling) and after a gram of matcha my blood pooling and purple feet go away 90%. It’s also had a crazy impact on my mood and sleep. I’m less dizzy, feel more upbeat and much more well rested.
It does make me feel a bit vasovagal, but it has so many positives I’m trying to work around that.
I’ve tried to isolate the complements via taking EGCG, gaba, PQQ, l-Theanine, but cannot mimic the effect it has at all.
Black tea, green tea, oolong, coffee, nothing else comes close.

Matcha contains a lot of things. This includes epicatechin (EC), epicatechin-3-gallate (ECG), epigallocatechin (EGC), and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). It also contains the phenolics gallic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, and ellagic acid. It also contains the flavonoids rutin and quercetin. The other big one is L-theanine. You probably can't isolate the effects with single compounds as they all work together. Ohh, and it also has chlorophyll that helps with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. You'd have to add a bit more into your stack to mimic it completely.
