Would you mind elaborating more on this? I've dealt with this the past couple of years where it emerged seemingly out of nowhere. 'Sitting doing nothing', spicy food, cold weather, hot weather, anxiety, excitement, sometimes merely talking to a friend, alcohol, caffeine, light scratching, orgasm - all cause this red flushing and warmth in my chest and neck. I've had a full blood panel done (except an IgE one, which seems irrelevant as the sensitivity to histamine and not the specific trigger seems more relevant), and an MRI with everything 'normal'. None of these triggers caused these effects previously, yet all of them are enhanced by any afinil (leading me to the histamine conclusion).
One of my last resorts was treating a possible MTHFR mutation, and after a week of supplementing methylfolate I've noticed all of my 'histamine triggers' as well as a host of other symptoms such as anxiety, cognitive and concentration deficits, cardiovascular sensitivities and energy levels have improved. The difference from every other time I've found a 'miracle' supplement is that these seem to continue to get better day after day, whereas my presumed placebo response is strong for a few days followed by a sharp decline.
One reason I suspect for this is MTHFR mutants reduced ability to eliminate toxins. I've used a sufficiently grandiose and prolific array of drugs and employed a consis…

I have a mast cell disorder that leads to releases in histamine for no reason. It started in high school, and has remained ever since. I was diagnosed with dermatographic urticaria at the time. However, I likely have mast cell activation disorder, as my skin is not the only thing affected. My airways can close as well, and some of my other issues (stomach, depression, etc.) are likely related. I take 30-40mg of cetirizine a day, and that keeps most of it at bay. I'll take montekukast for my airway when I go mountain biking, as cetirizine doesn't prevent all airway issues when I do strenuous exercise. Really the only things that can reliably and consistently help are histamine and leukotriene antagonists/inverse agonists.
