Empathogens

While not nootropics per se, empathogens can help us get access to a kind of information that we can use for making better decisions, I believe.
Commonly, MDMA and several popular hallucinogenic compounds increase empathy in humans - but with potentially unwanted effects.
Are we aware of any substances with a reduced risk of hallucinating, legal risks, and less toxicity? The recent comments on NSI-189 and hyper-emotionality make me wonder about empathy.

Ha, after a week of NSI people started commenting on how 'sassy' I had suddenly become (in a positive way). The effect faded after 4 weeks.
"May cause extreme sassiness"
Edit: For contrast, I also had 'lows' but they weren't close to the depressive episodes I've had. It was like basking in a weird enjoyable tearful sadness and acceptance - I played sorrowful majestic shit on my piano for hours.
Two months in, all I notice is a small acute social boost. Tianeptine/Semax/Bacopa are far more useful for me, but NSI was certainly interesting.

Haha, that can be a plus sometimes.
