Modafinil Dosing

I started on Modafinil on Wed for chronic fatigue / lack of motivation / general sleepiness due to an unknown cause. My doctor didn't know the medication really at all so prescribed 200mg daily. The pharmacist didn't seem to know much about it either. I have taken it for three days and while I am more awake the effects have been very subtle. Certainly no waves of energy, focus or productivity. I noticed on here that some people take 50 mg or 100 mg. I am planning to experiment with dosages a bit but I am interested if any information related to dosages. Is it possible it would be just as effective or more effective at a lower dose? Does that fact I have had minimal response likely mean that is all I will get regardless of dose?

Well, First you are correct with your impression that I am the one who gave you a downvote--I guess I dont realize how seriously people could take such a gesture on reddit(I will udno the downvote). If it makes a difference I did upvote you for the comment prior to that when you were advising caution. My sole reason for the downvote was because I didnt agree with the line of thinking "OP. Moda isnt cutting it for me. U: well then do it(switch to adderall). Either way though, Im not disagreeing with you. You seem like an intelligent and reasonable person. Besides, I am not here looking for conflict or any kind of negativity for that matter. So, I too apologize if I offended you in any way.
Simply put my point was that amphetamines are dangerous and if its possible to avoid them, then its good idea to try to. Of course though, the primary source of information and advice should be OP's doctor.

Sometimes when I am looking for reasonings for why someone disagrees with my line of thinking, it's annoying to just get downvoted then no response. It happens often, and I guess some days it gets to me, when others I don't give a shit. Today for some reason I actually cared. Also, I only use the downvote system as intended, to mark off topic or misleading posts. In any event, it doesn't really matter. I am just stressed and let it get to me.
I actually don't think he should go with amphetamine, unless his doctor has a good reasoning for it. Dopaminergic stimulants should be avoided at all costs, unless they are the last resort, and they increase the quality of life more than the risks they bring. I assumed that his doctor had more information than he gave us, and there was a good reasoning for the move. That may not be the case, though.
