Modafinil Dosing

I started on Modafinil on Wed for chronic fatigue / lack of motivation / general sleepiness due to an unknown cause. My doctor didn't know the medication really at all so prescribed 200mg daily. The pharmacist didn't seem to know much about it either. I have taken it for three days and while I am more awake the effects have been very subtle. Certainly no waves of energy, focus or productivity. I noticed on here that some people take 50 mg or 100 mg. I am planning to experiment with dosages a bit but I am interested if any information related to dosages. Is it possible it would be just as effective or more effective at a lower dose? Does that fact I have had minimal response likely mean that is all I will get regardless of dose?

Is this some sort of passive-aggressive message? Because I dont understand the point of your reply. Are you implying that I was passing my opinions as "sound medical advice'?. I was not.
I read all of that but thought it would be better to suggest a few alternatives before confirming his thoughts on switching to aderall, which IMO, didnt really sound like was an idea thrown out by his doctor, rather than something he was mulling over. Either way though, we agree on one thing, neither of us is a doctor and we are not here to prescribe. I just think people on most nootropic forums people are quick to support a switch from relatively harmless to potentially hazardous substances, not you in particular, but in general, which can often lead to not-the-best prescriptions by doctors. But thats a separate topic on its own.

I apologize for any tone that may have come across. I was downvoted, then your reply popped up right afterward. If I placed my annoyance at the incorrect person, I am sorry.
I was going to type a similar reply to yours before I decided to just leave it to his doctor. However, I think that sometimes we may overstep our bounds on some medical issues. Stack advice for nootropics purposes is one thing. However, someone with an unconventional medical condition that was not properly explained is a little different of a story.
And I disagree, most people on /r/Nootropics shy away from stimulants like amphetamine. I have never seen someone suggest moving from a safe and effective treatment to a more intense one like amphetamine.
I think you and I agree on the over-prescription of thing like amphetamine and methylphenidate. However, I was under the impression that the OP was moving to amphetamine under a doctor's suggestion for a more serious energy disorder.
