Modafinil Dosing

I started on Modafinil on Wed for chronic fatigue / lack of motivation / general sleepiness due to an unknown cause. My doctor didn't know the medication really at all so prescribed 200mg daily. The pharmacist didn't seem to know much about it either. I have taken it for three days and while I am more awake the effects have been very subtle. Certainly no waves of energy, focus or productivity. I noticed on here that some people take 50 mg or 100 mg. I am planning to experiment with dosages a bit but I am interested if any information related to dosages. Is it possible it would be just as effective or more effective at a lower dose? Does that fact I have had minimal response likely mean that is all I will get regardless of dose?

I still say do not move to adderall or ritalin or any of the other classic substances, order some sulbutamine, that ought to keep you going for a little while. Even caffeine? Those are dangerous drugs and you do build tolerance on those. After that its going to be much much more difficult to go back to Modafinil, also they have withdrawl effects and a crash.
Here is something else that I think hasnt been studied with modafinil, but keeps coming up quiet often. I think for some, modafinil can reduce your quality of sleep, you dont get as much REM sleep(the kind where your body rests), so you sleep, but you dont get the recovering effects of sleep. Maybe now that moda is out of your system, your body is recovering.
Lastly, I hope that if you do decide to switch to Adderall, youll do so under the supervision of your doctor. Its always great to get professional advice before switching to a serious stimulant.

Did you miss the part where he was under a doctor's care? Also he said he has "inflammatory autoimmune disease causing chronic debilitating fatigue." I was going to suggest other appropriate routes for energy just like you. Then I took a step back and said this one might best be left to his doctor, as I doubt you or I know the specifics of his disorder enough to give him sound medical advice.
