Somewhat relatedly, I have a special place in my heart for Taiwan, having lived there for a year teaching English. Every country of course is full of wonderful and interesting people, but Taiwan is really something special.

I really enjoyed my trip there. Everyone was really friendly. I used to travel to Singapore often to teach, but I had never made it to Taiwan. It's really interesting to see how each of the four Asian tigers (Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea) developed, leading to their own unique economies and cultures. I really appreciate their focus on education and advancement in technology. It's something we have lost here that we need to get back.
