Yeah, very rarely do I get to go in a lab with cooler shit than ours, but this was one of those times. They have multiple QTOF machines and triple quad GC-MS and LC-MS machines. If you look at picture 10 in the first set, that's the same Buchi flash chromatography and prep HPLC that we used to first isolate eriancine A. Both our teams did it on the same machines around the same time halfway across the world! Then if you look at the second set of pics on pic 8, that's their new production scale column chromatography machine. So now they can isolate hundreds of grams of pure compounds like eriancine A with ease. They have 608,000,000 liters of bioreactor capacity now, and their largest bioreactor is 50,000 liters. If you look at pic 12 in the first set, that's a machine that I didn't even know existed. It's an HPCPC-MS, or High Performance Centrifugal Partition Chromatography. So they are using partitioning techniques that I have not seen anyone else in the world using. Then they have rows of rotovaps to evaporate the solvents used in the process, and a big 20L one for larger batches. They are set up for some really nice isolation.
