Thank you!
It's interesting - I was skeptical re NMN initially as the human studies have been a bit underwhelming given the initial excitement, but my own (and everyone I know who has taken NMN) reports really strong benefits ... David Sinclair was the first person who said he gives it to his dog and given the safety study, I thought worth a try for my > 14 year old 60-70lb dog who had slowed down dramatically in recent years.
At first I thought it was just a coincidence - higher energy within a day or two of taking NMN (I dose conservatively - 125mg). I notice it mostly on walks where he will be able to walk either faster, or longer (or both) and stairs in particular. I've wondered if it was confirmation bias (on my part, not his :), so several times I've stopped it for a few weeks, only to start again after seeing his energy drop off. After resuming, I see that similar, positive pattern. This has happened enough times now where I can see it's having a measurably positive impact on his quality of life. I plan on giving it with occasional breaks.
BTW Lion's Mane and Longvida also seem to be having a positive impact for him cognitively too (less anxiety, better sleep, etc). Omega 3 + glucosamine have been a part of his diet for a long time. If it works well for me, Tart Cherry might get an add soon. Love hearing ideas, research + other owners' experiences on this kind of stu…

That's awesome! I might start with my dog on it. I agree, both lion's mane and Longvida have worked great for my dogs. I have also had one on our turkey tail for years. He has a tumor that he has been fighting for a long time. His vet discovered it years ago now. They told us he probably wouldn't last a year, and that they would have to do surgery to remove it. However, there was a 50/50 chance he might not live through the surgery, and they said he would likely lose his leg. We said no, as he is already old. No sense in putting him through a big surgery, probably take one of his legs, and maybe even die during it. So we started giving him turkey tail. Well he has done way better than the vet ever thought! The tumor is still there, but it has slowed enough to keep him going for a few years longer.
