This story made my day. We've been in a similar situation - and have found it incredibly difficult to know what the right decision is. There's no control / treatment for life. So glad to hear how well it's gone.
Funny you mention Turkey Tail. My partner is from Asia where this mushroom is widely accepted for immune / health / cancer (I heard Japan has even approved PSK as a cancer treatment!) and started him on it several years ago. We were using Double Labs' product but have now switched to ND, so it's great to know the amount of testing you put into your products. I started him on Reishi today too. Out of curiosity, how much are you dosing - roughly same as human recommended equivalents on a per lb basis? Is there anything else you've tried that has helped?
Our older dog had a neurological / nervous system episode a few months back that hit him really hard. Since then we've been rehabbing, adding in supplements, accident proofing the house and he's doing MUCH better. We went on a 3 mile hike today! Just grateful for every day. In addition to the above, we've increased the protein in his diet which has helped him regain some lost muscle (we found out that older dogs, contrary to some beliefs, actually benefit from a bit more protein as they age to retain muscle mass) and collagen peptides (with hyaluronic acid).

Allometric scaling between species is complex. Dogs have a much higher metabolic rate than humans, so their dose is higher than ours on a mg/kg basis. There are some simple ways to quickly scale, though.
A simple practice guide for dose conversion between animals and human
So for dogs, multiplying a human dose by 1.8 on a mg/kg basis is a quick way to scale. However, that's just a quick dirty method. I've found that my vet prescribes Zrytec, which I also take, to my 25lb dog at 10mg. That's the same dose I take, so for things I know are very safe I just give him the same dose I would take. For turkey tail, he just gets one of our capsules a day.

Our NextCBD has a lot. I've given them L-theanine to calm them down before, which works great. One of my dogs ate some coffee beans because they spilled from the machine one day. He was shaking like he was buzzed. I gave him L-theanine and it calmed him down really quickly. Reduced glutathione is another one that most older dogs would benefit from as well. It's the main antioxidant just like ours.

I agree. I have found older dogs do better with a bit more protein as well. It's actually higher fats that I see an issue with older dogs, as they put on fat much more quickly, which stresses their joints. Then it becomes a feedback loop of less activity, which puts on more fat, which causes less activity.
