Moderators please clarify the rules on nootropic vendor recommendations

It has come to my attention that recently user posts are deleted for nootropic vendor recommendation. It is a reasonable policy when vendors are using astroturfing or spamming however I've been asked dozens of times in comments and in private about the vendor or brand of the product I reviewed. It is unacceptable and very damaging to this community that it is allowed to mention nootropicsdepot, newmind and science.bio as well as big brands like now, swanson and jarrows while it is prohibited to recommend pglchem. And while I neither can assure the quality of his products nor I recommend the use of his shop, he is synthesizing some interesting compounds . One such compound is of particular importance to me, given my personal experience with certain nootropic derivatives of it like ones sold by newmind. I've been posting for years what I hope is valuable content including some rare scientific sources like this one stating that pemoline is more anti amnesic than stimulants in the screenshot, or even prl-8-53 which is touted by this sub as the ultimate memory enhancer. Also moderators should state sort of conflict of interests in…

Hello, old friend. It's been a long time.

I'm so sorry this is how we end up meeting again. I haven't been involved in /r/Nootropics lately and the recent controversy piqued my interest, to say the least. Since Ceretropic US shut down, I've had to look elsewhere for serious compounds and it has distanced me from you and the Reddit community.

I hope you can understand where I'm coming from: that I have a limited insight into these affairs and I can only see the examples that people post elsewhere. It's hard to know where the fabrications begin and end. The PGLChem thing is what really brought me back to say something. I just want people to be able to innovate and improve their own lives, and given how much this subreddit helped me when I was still a budding enthusiast, I would be loathe to see companies that remind me all too well of Ceretropic back in the day getting squashed by the community I love.

To be honest, I don't have the heart to suspect you directly of anything; I was thinking maybe it was someone else who stands to gain from your success, if the bias exists at all. I have no beef with you or this community, I've just heard things and seeing norbinaltorphimine--a drug that has helped me--censored on this sub was the first sign that something might be rotten at the heart. It was enough for me to start asking questions.

Just know that, even if you were a corrupt,…

It has been a long time! You have been around for pretty much all of it, too. The early days, the launch of Ceretropic, all the BS we had to deal with, then my forced transition to a different part of the industry, and then the inevitable shutdown of Ceretropic. There are only a few people that have been around as long as you, and interacted with me as much over the years. I do understand where you are coming from. The BS and lies spread about us are just insane. I get it. However, you know me. Have I ever done anything that would indicate to you I was being anything other than open and honest? Have you ever known me to try to stifle conversations into interesting compounds or mechanisms? That's the entire reason I got into all this. Just because I am not personally selling a lot of advance stuff these days doesn't mean it still doesn't interest me. The last thing I want to do is stifle legitimate discussions.

I personally had to shift my involvement in the community for a number of reasons. You know many of them. Some of them were legal. Some of them were moral. You know the cool shit we did with Ceretropic back in the day. I always tried to make sure we were not selling unsafe things, but we were on the cutting edge with brand new and unstudied compounds. I was cool with that back then partly because I was naive and overly optimistic. I didn't realize all the implications behind my actions. However, as the years went on I had to seriously assess if it was something I wanted to be involved in long-term. I had to make the choice to shift things to the more natural and studied side. Some of the stuff being sold today is downright dangerous. People are calling some things nootropics that have no place being pushed as that. Me and my product specialist have tried many of them, and we have had some bad times with a bunch. One time /u/pretty-chill's heart rate and blood pressure went up so high after taking one of these RC "nootropics" that he was about to call an ambulance. I've had my share of bad shit experimenting with novel things, too. We've also dealt with a lot of serious things in the background that many people don't know about. Some people have actually died from some of these things, so I had to take a look inward on what I could morally and legally be involved with. This is a big reason for some of the shifts we have done. I just couldn't morally justify some of it anymore. A few people here in the community actually helped me to realize that. They would PM me with their concerns and got me really thinking about what I should be involved in. Over time I have just realized that I needed to shift to a more natural and safer side of the industry. That's not to say I don't think people should be free to experiment with whatever novel compounds they want. Have at it! I just personally came to the conclusion that I couldn't be as involved as I was in the past. I have really grown in my views on things as the years have passed. I've dealt with a lot of people and a lot of situations. It's helped me to realize that I have a greater responsibility to ensure safety than I think I did at the start.

So I really don't have a problem with novel things being discussed. I don't want to stifle discussions. I stay completely out of it these days, and focus my efforts on the things I think I should. These things are improving the lab testing and quality control standards of the industry, advancing the accuracy, precision, and validity of the methods/methodologies used to prove the science behind things, advancing the botanical and natural extracts available, and now trying to help educate and inspire people to get as interested as I am in things; whether through involvement in our subreddit, reading our blogs, or now listening to our podcast. That's just what I have to focus my attention on. Everything else is a distraction to me. I realize that kind of sucks for the OG people back from the Ceretropic days, where we were pumping out novel synthetics and peptides, but I have to let that go. This is why it is so crazy to me all these conspiracy claims about me trying to stifle discussion into some of these things. It literally doesn't involve me anymore. I have removed myself from the equation. I just want to affect the change I can within the legal and moral boundaries I have come to set for myself over a long time in this community and this industry. That's not to say I couldn't get involved in the discussions. I have a lot to say about the safety of some of these things, and the complete lack of proper lab testing to ensure people's safety. However, I just can't handle all that anymore, so I stay out of it. It just very frustrating when I completely remove myself from situations, yet lies, deceit, and propaganda keep pulling me back in. I just want to focus on the positive things in my life right now. It's been almost 10 years of stress and controversies. I just can't handle it anymore. I don't want to be pulled back into the negativity and drama.
