Noopept Systematic Review
Original post in this thread

Wrote up a new post on Noopept for SN.
A few interesting points:
- Not a racetam, but a dipeptide analogue of the racetams
- Effects appear to potentiate over a 28 day period, with little to no tolerance showing
- Has positive cognitive effects and acts as an immuno-corrector

Thanks for doing the research. What exactly does it mean that it's a dipeptide analogue but not actually a racetam?

Racetams all share a pyrrolidone nucleus.
Noopept is a dipeptide. Peptides are short chain amino acids linked by a peptide bond. In noopept's case, that is proline and glycine. If you look at the structure of noopept, you can see the different parts.
As you can see, there is not a pyrrolidone nucleus, but a proline nucleus. That means it is not a racetam, but is structurally similar. Since it is two amino acids, proline and glycine, bonded together, it is a dipeptide.
One theory is that upon entering the brain, noopept is broken down into cyclo-L-prolylglycine, which is an endogenous neuropeptide. That leads to it's effects. Since there is never a full pyrrolidone nucleus, it's not really a racetam.
