Why is Examine.com pitching us with a gross long-form sales letter?

We were actually hoping that the more well educated user base would see past the marketing hype and think "meh, I guess they need to make a buck as well to stay in business; bit tasteless IMO, but I see where they are coming from" or something like that.

I think that is an accurate assessment. Most people won't have an issue with it, as it's not forcing anything on anyone.
I'm interested to see how effective it is. I wonder how many people you can get to make the purchase.
