MDMA: The 'Dont Re-dose' advice?
Original post in this thread

So this came up in another thread and people suggested I make my way over here for a more specific answer.
We've all heard the general advice of not re-dosing on mdma to minimize any potential harmful after effects. It makes sense but is it the act of just 'taking more' that could cause issues, or is it the actual time separation?
So the example. You take an initial 120mg dose, and then a subsequent 60mg dose an hour or so later for a grand total of 180mg.
Vs.
One initial dose of 180mg.
Are they equally 'bad' or does the subsequent dosage cause more complications than one large initial dose? If so, why?

No, that is a correct assumption. Temperature is not the cause, but merely an exacerbating factor.
When your temperature rises, your body's natural antioxidant defenses become less efficient. This leads to them being overwhelmed by the reactive oxygen species, causing damage. Alpha lipoic acid prevents neurotoxicity, even though body temperatures stay high. So the temperature is not the cause, but a mitigating factor.
THC and CBD do not prevent all toxicity. They just lower it. To prevent it all, you need stronger antioxidants.
Your assumption about ROS being the actual cause of the damage is correct. I just don't think the antioxidant effect from THC is what is leading to the lowering of damage. In THC's case, it seems to be the temperature modulation that is the cause.
Have you read my posts on what is causing the toxicity and my supplementation post?
