Ron Paul Admits He's On Social Security, Even Though He Believes It's Unconstitutional

What they were answering

> He hitchhiked (yes illegal, but what isn't?)

This is clearly not viable for the majority of people, and, as stated, illegal. Not only does this only apply to those who have no belongings, but it also carries a lot of dangerous risk.

> As a democratic republic, we have a unique situation in the world.

Yet, you want to change it, rather than simply moving to a place that suits your ideology - like Somalia.

> You think it would have been just as easy for him to get a visa to Germany, Netherlands, etc, then learn a new language?

I would assume that, if he wanted to move to said country with a different language (which is hardly even an issue anymore, if you speak English), he would already have that situated. It's not out of the question to live there before you know the language, anyway.

> my friend who is not homeless and has many possessions has chosen to move to LA.

Does he have a job lined up? A place to live? Congrats, he's better off than most Americans! LA is not only extremely expensive (which mean that he's well off to begin with), but the job market is terrible. The cheapest 10 foot truck I can find is more than $250, so I'm also going to have to call bullshit on that, too.

> Is it always practical? No. The option is there though.

This is the same argument for moving to a new country. If you can do one, you can do the other.

I never said I want to change it! I was simply giving the mindset for the argument for becoming more republic based.

Your argument stated that the difficulty level of moving to a new country is essentially the same as moving states, which is not the case.

Yes he does, but that is not better than most Americans! The unemployment rate is 8.1%. That is hardly the majority of Americans! And he booked the truck in advance! I used a 16' Penske truck to move stuff from Denver to Phoenix last year. It cost me $125 plus about the same in gas. It is much cheaper than what it would take to move to another country!

Obviously not the case! ~$200-$300 to move to another city.
Moving to another country requires permanent visa applications, proving you have a job and money to sustain yourself, figuring out how to get your stuff across the world (or driving it up to Canada if that is your destination), possible language barriers, etc. It is most definitely harder to move countries!

I think he might be lying. Nobody puts cookies in their pants pocket.

The Chicago City Council just voted 43-2 to decriminalize possession of marijuana.

Replying to slybrows · He should have said that it's already de-criminalized if you're white *in Chicago*. The cops here are pretty. fucking. racist.

All the Chicago cops are pretty? Damn!

Earth’s richest 1,000 individuals now control as much wealth as the poorest 2.5 billion people on the planet. This super elite uses its vast wealth to control the media, influence politicians, and bend laws to their favor.

While I agree, the poverty line here in the US is slightly higher than many countries. I've seen things in Egypt, Mexico, India, Africa etc. that are on a whole other scale.

Aurora shooting victim could face $2 million in medical bills because of lack of health insurance

Replying to [deleted] · This. Hell, my grandfather was in the hospital after a stroke for three weeks before passing and his total bill for everything was ~$17,000,000. Yep, that's not exorbitant at all

While I agree medical costs are out of control, I have a hard time believing that your grandfather's 3 weeks stay cost $17 million!

Is it true? Did the baby-boomers take advantage of the social programs their parents created and cemented, then voted to dismantle those same benefits for their children in the name of freedom, individual responsibility, and more benefits for themselves? Can a generation be that selfish?

This is what I was thinking. Perhaps the cycles will shift or change entirely, given our new ability to transfer knowledge faster. Why do the cycles always have to be the same, or happen at all, regardless of innovation
