I just had a thought. If all the power was given to the state governments, and people moved to different states based on the local laws and politics, we would have an even more radical difference in beliefs/politics between the states. Red states would become redder, blue states would become bluer. Without a strong federal government, what would keep these states together? Why would the super liberals in California want to help the ultra conservatives in Alabama? It could lead to another civil war, right?
Just a thought.

Yeah, that's an interesting thought. I'd like to think that the more vocal progressives in the various states would continue to instigate change, but perhaps they would give up and move. I think the federal government should be there to oversee and make sure that our rights are protected, but not have the total power to royally mess things up the way they do now. But the fracture could possibly lead to another civil war.
