Except that isn't what you are doing. You are voting for whoever is winning, so to an extend you are doing even less than voting for the lesser of the two evils.

A vote for a third party actually shows up and influences something, writing in Ron Paul does absolutely nothing.

I was informed by another Redditor about the Libertarian funding in 2016 if Gary Johnson get 5% of the vote, so now that will most likely be what I do.

While I agree, the poverty line here in the US is slightly higher than many countries. I've seen things in Egypt, Mexico, India, Africa etc. that are on a whole other scale.
