You are not, you are instead voting for the winner (probably Obama) and nobody cares.

Just like whoever you put for your choice. On an individual basis, nobody cares about your own vote. If you pick the lesser of the two evils, then your vote is worth even less. If you are ok with having your vote railroaded into a certain candidate, then by all means go right ahead. I did that last election. I'd rather have the personal satisfaction of marking who I want, however irrelevant you think that may be.
