Procter & Gamble will acquire supplements brand Thorne for $3.8 billion, CEO tells CNBC
Replying to Simple_Song8962 · How in the hell did it go up by $3 Billion in just 3 years?
This is what private equity does. They buy up companies with trusted names, come in and cut a bunch of the shit that made the companies trusted in the first place, which lowers overhead costs. They then do big marketing pushes to increase short term demand, pushing EBITDA up, due…

I mean, it has been owned by L Catterton, the investment arm of Luis Vuitton Moet Hennessy, for 3 years. They fired their whole scientific team 2.5 years ago. We knew a guy that worked on their scientific team for 15 years that was cut when the new ownership came in. Thorne's fat…

We do DNA analysis as well, though LeafWorks. However, that only tells you species level confirmation. You don't get plant part or metabolomic profiling that you get with HPTLC, or with a novel NMR technique like PurityIQ is using... which we also work with! It's nice to get DNA…

Replying to 10MileHike · *This is just another contract manufacturer!!*! Yeah ...."the formulator told us what recipe they used, so it must be in there!"
This is happening a LOT lately. As consumers start to demand COAs more, brands are putting them on the sites more. However, many times those are just supplier COAs. These contract manufacturers are getting better at making them look legit as well, confusing consumers. Then even I…

/u/Pretty-Chill talked some about what you should look for in a positive way. I will talk about what you should look out for as red flags. Let's take a brand that has been blowing up lately, because they got David Beckham to come on to shill it: IM-8. I will link one of their Ins…
My top 10 takeaways from Rhonda Patrick's new episode about NAD precursor supplements (NR vs. NMN)
Replying to Warren_sl · I don’t know if they’re using CellG8 anymore they removed all references to them. I think the gel was always a different manufacturer but I’m unsure who. Maybe EffePharm?
Could be. I'd have to get another sample from them and test again. Whatever it was a year and a half ago was not a liposome. I've been pretty vocal about calling that out, so maybe people have finally switched suppliers to a real one. I didn't end up buying the Nanosight. We just…

I believe Renue was using CellG8 as the supplier, which we tested in the lab using the Malvern Nanosight system. We found not only was it not a liposome, it wouldn't even get into solution to properly inject into the machine. We dissolved what we could, which was like 1/4 of the…

Yeah, that was my read as well. I am considering doing a liposomal NMN, as we did finally find someone making it for real, and doing proper cryoTEM and pharmacokinetic studies. My fight over liposomes wasn't that they were bullshit in theory. It's that nobody was even doing testi…

Replying to JustAboutUpToSpeed · Any chance of NRH/NMNH from ND?
Potentially, but the costs are too high for now. We've been able to get both for many years, but the cost is insane. The increase in bioavailability/efficacy is real, but not if the cost is 10X.

My top 10 takeaways from Rhonda Patrick's new episode about NAD precursor supplements (NR vs. NMN)
Replying to RarageInTheGarage · NMN is a fundamental biomolecule. Wasn't David Sinclair trying to get NR "regulated" as well, a while back?
That's correct. Tru Niagen patented nicotinamide riboside... which is a natural endogenous compound found in everyone's bodies and in multiple food sources. They tried to say they were the ones that "discovered" it, and that nobody else was allowed to sell it. For a while they su…

We have not found that the enantiomer of ALA changes the smell. The only way to know if you have pure R-ALA is running it through a polarimeter. Also, R-ALA is very unstable. You need the sodium salt, Na-R-ALA, for it to be stable. R-ALA freeform will literally melt at 116*F, whi…

Well yeah, I own Nootropics Depot, and make most of these products so I can personally use them. We hold things to rigorous standards because I feel that's the way it should be, but also because I am putting them into my own body as well.

Replying to sawatter · That seems to be pretty decent then, no?
Yes, it just didn't meet label claim. It's still a good amount of eurycomanone, though. It has about the same eurycomanone as our 2% capsules (we always put more and are over spec on the raws) https://imgur.com/a/4fIaUDe So they have pretty much the same in there as our 2% capsul…
