Uh-oh, Nootropics Depot is threatening to sue ConsumerLab.
ConsumerLab testing discovered that Nootropics Depot Shoden Ashwagandha doesn’t have the claimed amount of Withanolides in it. ConsumerLab isn’t backing down. Stay tuned…

They say that Swanson was using UV-VIS, and outdated an inaccurate methodology, so that excuses them lying to customers and giving less than stated
Wait, what..?

Yep! It's even worse... Consumer Lab made Swanson their TOP PICK, even though it failed their testing! So not only did they overlook not meeting label claims, and try to explain away not having what customers are being told it has by pointing to methodology issues, they tell customers that it's still the best choice.
Swanson pays Consumer Lab for regular testing, gets special treatment. We don't pay Consumer Lab a cent, have our name dragged through the mud. Both situations are methodology differences. If Consumer Lab really had a legal stance that they just go based off the methods that the labs use, they would have treated the situations the same. Here's the really big kicker: UV-VIS for silymarins is just a bad method. It's overstating the results because it's not suited for purpose. Our methods are MORE ACCURATE, so the situation is even worse. More shit like this is going to come out, believe me. I have been pissed at Consumer Lab for years because of shit like this, but I mostly left it alone because I had other shit to deal with. Not now. Now we shine a light on the dark underbelly of this industry.
