ConsumerLab vs. Nootropics Depot

Uh-oh, Nootropics Depot is threatening to sue ConsumerLab.

ConsumerLab testing discovered that Nootropics Depot Shoden Ashwagandha doesn’t have the claimed amount of Withanolides in it. ConsumerLab isn’t backing down. Stay tuned…

Honestly the ND owner is making a good case and we should analyze their response.

The bottle says 35% percent Withanolides.

It didn't say "35% percent of the 8 specific Withanolides Consumer Labs tests out of the total 46 different Withanolides"

The real 2 questions are:

Why did Consumer Labs choose those 8 Withanolides in particular?

I need to look at the research to determine whether those other Withanolides do something or were they just pumping up the overall label % by including what is commonly considered and backed by evidence non-active Withanolides. Seeing levels of all 46 out of 46 different Withanolide measurements for all the brands they tested would be nice too. I won't rule out the possibility that Consumer Labs chose those 8 out of 46 Withanolides to screw over ND, especially considering ND still ranked high in value.

Can another third party lab use those standards to come to the same result?

I personally predict ND's measurements are valid and it does contain the 35% of all Withanolides. If it came out that they did not.... it would be a lie from a trusted company. Once again, with ND having a sister testing company, I have faith their numbers are accurate. Also, it's not like they make Shoden in-house. It's patented by a different company that they buy from and then test themselves. It's not ND's decision to pick and choose Withanolides, but r…

* Himalaya: 3mg

* Gaia: 2.8mg

* Youtheory: 2.5mg

* Organic India: 2mg

* Life Extension: 1.5mg

We also ran that batch through the lab again today, and found 72mg total withanolides, well over our claim of 42mg. We have a second ISO lab getting us results on that batch tomorrow as well. I also have every single one of those products on the way to us now, and I will run them all through real proper ashwagandha methods, and post the results for everyone. Don't worry, I won't let this one go. I will fight as long and hard as I have to on this issue.

KSM-66 and Sensoril Ashwagandha brands are extremely dishonest.

Replying to Megatron_McLargeHuge · NootropicsDepot sells both and supposedly has the most reliable lab testing of any consumer vendor. Have you looked at their versions?

We removed the withanolide claims years ago from those two products, because we found this out in our lab testing. Both Natreon and Ixoreal were not happy with us about it, but we called them out multiple times at Supply
