[META] Modafinil discussions should not be prohibited anymore. The hype around it has died down, and it is still one of the most effective and safest nootropics.

You've always been able to. You just need to message us to approve it.
Requiring approval drives people to /r/afinil, which is exactly what "spreading out subreddits" is. That's the entirety of the problem. We don't need a plethora of micro-subreddits. We need one well-moderated sub, /r/nootropics, except maybe for vendor discussion or non-nootropic discussion of modafinil (e.g. using it for sleep apnea or narcolepsy).
Even with /r/tianeptine, /r/phenibut, /r/kratom, posting there is a choice, not something that is _very strongly hinted at_ by AutoMod.

It's also the top post on /r/Nootropics right now. Isn't that enough to at least warrant a reconsideration of your policies? Please let us discuss modafinil on /r/nootropics like we discuss kratom, tianeptine or phenibut. Just try it for a month or so and you'll see how well it goes.

Seriously, is there actually anything specific about modafinil that people here want to discuss? Everyone is rallying around the idea of discussing it, but nobody is actually giving specifics about what they want to discuss. Do we actually want to talk about modafinil, or do we just want to talk about talking about it? I think your argument is actually for more moderation of tianeptine, phenibut, and kratom posts, not less moderation of modafinil.
I don't have a problem with quality modafinil posts. I really don't. I would have no issue seeing them here regularly. The issue is that nobody actually posts them. Everyone has an opinion on meta posts, but nobody takes the effort to post quality content after it. If that were not the case, we would not be here now. The quality posts would be in the majority, and we could just remove shitty ones when they roll in. The balance is completely the opposite, though.
What does everyone want in this sub? You ask ten different people, and you'll get ten different answers. Some want purely well-sourced scientific discussions. Some want tons of anecdotes to read through. Some want to discuss how to treat depression or anxiety. Others want no discussion of those disorders. Some want only safe compounds to be talked about. Others want only advanced and new ones to be discussed. Everyone is here for different reasons. I think a more constructive way to solve this is to ask everyone what they want this sub to be. I have no issue revisiting the filters for modafinil, if we have a logical reason for it, and we know that it will not lead to a worse experience for everyone. I also have no issue putting in more strict filters for kratom, tianeptine, and phenibut, either. I would prefer to hear from the people that either want to, or do, make quality posts. We can certainly revisit the filters if we think it is going to improve quality.
