[META] Modafinil discussions should not be prohibited anymore. The hype around it has died down, and it is still one of the most effective and safest nootropics.

Seriously, is there actually anything specific about modafinil that people here want to discuss? Everyone is rallying around the idea of discussing it, but nobody is actually giving specifics about what they want to discuss. Do we actually want to talk about modafinil, or do we just want to talk about talking about it? I think your argument is actually for more moderation of tianeptine, phenibut, and kratom posts, not less moderation of modafinil.
Every time a sub over-splits, it dies down, at least in terms of quality and actual discussion. We don't need this kind of segregation. The topic of this sub is nootropics. If somebody wants to talk about any of these in the context of cognitive enhancement, then let them.
I don't have a problem with quality modafinil posts. I really don't. I would have no issue seeing them here regularly. The issue is that nobody actually posts them.
I'd wager that nobody posts them because they are immediately directed to a different subreddit, with a dwindling audience. As a result, they give up on posting entirely. Too much unwarranted complexity - _I just wanted to post a PSA, man..._ might a common line of though in these cases.
What does everyone want in this sub? You ask ten different people, and you'll get ten different answers.
I think you might be overthinking this a bit. We have the upvote system. It's a neat way to segregate…

We already do. They just have to message us about it, or we might see it in the logs ourselves and approve it manually.

I see the moderation logs. There are no quality modafinil posts waiting to be seen, but being caught by the filter. Let me give you a look into the most recent modafinil posts stopped by the filter.

Those are it. This is what the filter is there to prevent, not good discussions.
I think you're better off filtering by "Holy shit" or "OMG" or "changed my life" or "life-changing" if you're looking to get rid of over-enthusiastic, repetitive anecdotes.
Perhaps we should.
I get it, you recently started using modafinil, and want to discuss it with a better quality group of people. I fully believe that should be allowed here. The issue is those types of posts regarding modafinil are in the vast minority. A lot of people have upvoted this, which means we should probably should make some changes. I am just trying to get specifics from everyone as to what they want. I really am not trying to dismiss your argument. You just have to understand that most of the modafinil posts that show up here are crap. Now that you have seen the posts that are being filtered, what do you want us to change? Should we reword the message that pops up a bit, and instruct people to message us if they feel their post is valid? Do you still think removing the filter altogether is the best course of action?
