What causes DXM's afterglow effect?

Serotonin? Opioid receptors interactions? Upregulation after NMDA antagonism? Something else?
Maybe there'll be some combination of supplements I can take to mimic/recreate this effect.

Thanks a bunch for these studies! Dexanabinol & Dizocilpine I hadn't yet researched. I'm going to read all the studies/research more before I comment on them.
I agree with your comments about the big picture, that's absolutely right. I was just wondering why Sig1 agonism with few additional targets had been underwhelming ime despite its reinforcing/rewarding/antidepressant profile on paper. I think I'll try some of the neurosteroid Sig1 ligands and see what sorts of mental effects they have.
Re: DXM, I was mainly interested by your really lengthy mood benefits lasting for weeks after cessation. Can you expand on how each cycle of DXM helps in the mood department? Also, out of curiosity, do you know if you're a good or bad CYP2D6 metabolizer? Like, does Codeine work fine for you, for example?

I'll cycle DXM at 30mg/day for 15 days. I'll usually incorporate it into a cycle off things like kratom and caffeine, for a quicker reset of tolerance. I find doing that cycle every 6 months or so to be beneficial for mood for a while. I am a good CYP2D6 metabolizer, and codeine does work for me.
