Tianeptine abusers- Another reason your misuse may affect responsible consumers

Original post in this thread

I will remove this post in a few days as not to crud up the search engine with things related to abuse of tianeptine. Perhaps this is commn sense and should go without saying, but this was an interesting thought:

We some places in the US are starting to pull Tianeptine, and some places are running out of it. A lot of people speculate that it was caused by the 2014 study that tianeptine is a MOR and DOR agonist (albeit very mild) and Tianeptine is also a drug with some known abuse potential. This could be part of the reason why. Obviously there are legal repercussions could in theory happen (example someone stupid would overdose). But other substances like Kratom and Phenibut are very widely available in the US, sold by many companies.

But it could also be because the owners of nootropics sites know that they are selling ridiculous amounts to one person and they obviously have a problem. Granted, it may go unnoticed at first but after you keep selling it in large amounts to the same people isn't that going to bother them? It brings up a moral dilemma then really. I think that it's part of the reason people are backing out

Again im not talking down to anyone, but we should c…

I understand, I just don't see how that makes sense when alcohol, with it's virtually non-existent medical value, is used solely for getting high. Are these people not adults who like to drink to enjoy themselves?

The reality is that someone is only being irresponsible if they are doing something that becomes destructive. If someone is megadosing tianeptine, or mainlining it, or whatever, it's not a problem until it is a problem. This is the case for everything. Donuts, alcohol, speeding, gambling, sex, etc...

You cannot simply say that doing something for fun is bad. Unless it directly hurts somebody.

I am not advocating 'abuse'. I am advocating a more open conceptualization of use itself. I'm not saying everyone should get high on tianeptine. What I'm trying to get across is the idea that everybody is different, and nobody can tell anybody else what's good for them.

I am not saying it is bad. I think we should all be able to choose what we do to our own bodies. However, using a very useful therapeutic substance like tianeptine for recreation, increases the risk that the FDA and DEA will crack down on it. That not only will affect those using it recreationally, who are perfectly capable of finding another recreational substance to use, but also affect those that are relying on it to treat their depression. They do not have the capability to find alternatives in a lot of cases. So that means that the recreational users are risking the very mental health of these people, just to get a shitty opioid high. There are much better recreational opioids out there. There are not a lot of better atypical antidepressants out there.

So trust me, I get that it is not fair that people are telling you to change your actions. But life is not fair. Recreational users should be more than willing to alter their behavior, so that people with depression can continue to have access to the substances they need to treat their disorder. They should not be forced to. They should want to. Nobody should have to be burdened with untreated depression. We as humans should want to do everything we can to ensure that our fellow man does not have to suffer. If that means choosing kratom for recreation over tianeptine, I think that is the least people can do.

So no, nobody can tell you what is best for you. But you should be able to see that your actions can and do affect other people, even if that is not what would happen in a perfect world.
