Reishi cramps/diarrhea, any Reishi gurus here?

About 2-3 weeks into taking Reishi, I started getting a sharp pain somewhere in my stomach area followed by diarrhea lasting throughout the day. I've only done Reishi for that long of a period once (that one time), after which I stopped.
Now I've heard that some adverse, "detoxification" effects could be common a few days in, but... not 3 weeks into it? That being said, I only took 1 capsule a day (as opposed to a suggested serving of 2-4 daily).
I'm fairly certain it was the Reishi because when I stopped taking it and resumed a few days later, the diarrhea stopped and then returned, and I had eaten no other suspect foods that could have triggered it to return.
Do you think this is part of the detoxification process, or is this more likely an individual case of me reacting adversely to it? I enjoy the effects. I get a high on the first or second day (extremely noticeable), otherwise I notice a mild calming/anxiolytic effect and noticeably decreased physiological responses to anxiety. If I just need to fight through some sort of detoxification stage, I'd like to continue using it.

And is yours a water extract? I recall it being one or the other, according to Real Mushrooms, who boast of a water/ethanol.

Yes, all our Nammex mushrooms are water extracts so far. We went with all the 1:1 water extracts because the beta glucan content is higher. You lose some of the beta glucan percentage in a dual water/ethanol concentrated extract, but get higher amounts of other things. Also, the 1:1 extracts are not really extracts in the traditional sense, because all the mushroom material is kept in. So it is just whole mushroom powder than has been through a hot water extraction, then dehydrated and mixed with all the mushroom material used. So you don't lose anything. 10:1 extracts only bring over the compounds that are soluble. You lose some of the other stuff in it, which is why a 10:1 extract can have less beta-glucans.
For example: take a 1:1 water extract of Reishi compared to a 10:1 water/ethanol extract. The 1:1 water has 35% beta-glucans, but lower triterpenoids. The 10:1 has only 7% beta-glucans, but 4% triterpenoids. So if you were to taste Real Mushroom's Resihi 415, it would be more bitter than our 1:1 water extract, due to triterpenoids being very bitter. However, it would have much less beta-glucans than ours. So it really depends on what you are using it for. Our 1:1 Reishi is going to be the most like nature, and have the natural ratio of beta-glucans, triperpenoids, vitamins, an minerals. However, if you are really wanting to get the triterpenoids, then a 10:1 water/ethanol extract would be better.
We are going to release some other dual water/ethanol extracts from Nammex soon, though. We are working with them on a new more concentrated extract of Lion's Mane, to replace our other one. Also, I am testing out a 10:1 water/ethanol extract of cordyceps now, and will be testing their concentrated reishi soon. We are also going to make some premade mixtures of mushrooms too, for those that want to have it all in one.
