Recently got some Kanna (Sceletium Tortuosum) which is a south african plant with psychoactive properties. It apparently functions as an Serotonin release agent and an SRI
so far iv had great effects with the substance (300mg sublingual)
* Effects kick in after a few minutes
* Duration is seemingly much longer than tianeptine (8+ hours)
* There is no crash
* neuroprotective
* improves focus
* The anti-anxiety effect is stronger than tianeptine, compares to phenibut for me
* increases empathy, great for socialising
* Stimulating at first but then mellows out (great for relaxing sleep)
* The appetite suppressing effect is quite noticeable
i cant believe this stuff isnt more popular really. the feeling on it i would nearly describe as similar to low dose MDMA
*****EDIT****
Here is another review i found that was similar to my own experiences

I've taken at the end of MDMA rolls. AFAIK, it competes with MDMA in its action, stops the serotonin releasing effect. My motivation in taking kanna was to stop the serotonin release on the comedown and reduce the amount of serotonin depletion, avoid having a hangover in the days after. People think that MDMA lasts 3-4 hour, but its half-life is 7 hours, so it keeps depleting your serotonin levels long after the enjoyable high is over.
All of this being said, if anybody is going to try this, please start with a small amount of kanna. I do not have research to back up my anecdotal experience, and your neurochemistry could be different from mine. For instance, I've taken 5-HTP on the tail end of an MDMA trip in order to revive it. It had a mild but noticeable effect on me. A friend tried doing the same: he vomited, overheated, sweated profusely and displayed other obvious symptoms of serotonin syndrome. I have the slow version of tryptophan hydroxylase (the enzyme that makes serotonin), but my friend most likely does not. Genetics matter, they will affect your response, be careful.

Yes, at the end of an MDMA roll would probably be neuroprotective. It would just be counterproductive during/before the roll. I think most people know that taking Prozac 5 hours after you take MDMA prevents serotonin system toxicity, by blocking the SERT, and not allowing the toxic metabolites or dopamine into the neuron. Kanna would most likely do the same thing, as it has a high SERT binding affinity.
People should just be very careful, as there are no studies assessing kanna and MDMA. We can postulate it will act like Prozac, but that is not proven. Also, Prozac does not help if you wait 6 hours or longer after taking MDMA, as the metabolites have already been uptaked into the serotonin neurons. So timing is crucial.
