Converting Adrafinil to Modafinil?

This is obviously conducted in the body already, so is there some chemical process to go about it outside the body, leaving only the active metabolite and eliminating Adrafinil's harsh affects on the liver?
It would certainly reduce costs and make it much easier to import if it could be done.

Vyvanse isn't metabolized by the liver but instead by red blood cell enzymes. Considering that the prescribed use of modafinil is narcolepsy and that it is taken everyday; pharmaceutical companies are not going to risk the investment of getting adrafinil approved when modafinil is an option. Modafinil has very little, if any, abuse potential and also has very little peripheral effects in contrast to amphetamine, so pro-drugs aren't a priority in that regard either.
Certainly, adrafinil is perfect for occasional and short term use as a nootropic; the more long term adrafinil is taken the more important it is to avoid alcohol, acetaminophen and other drugs that are harsh on the liver.

Yeah, Vyvanse was probably not the best prodrug to compare it to. But most of the liver metabolism with adrafinil is also present with modafinil. It's only an extra hydroxyl group that gets cleaved off compared to modafinil. Then there is still extensive liver metabolism after that.

I agree. Both adrafinil and modafinil are good for short-term usage. Care should be taken mixing either of them with alcohol or drugs like acetaminophen. Honestly, I would not recommend drinking alcohol while on either adrafinil or modafinil. Not so much due to liver issues, but the headaches and hangovers are much worse when mixing them. It's best just to avoid the combo.
