Converting Adrafinil to Modafinil?

Original post in this thread

MrDrugs · 5 points

This is obviously conducted in the body already, so is there some chemical process to go about it outside the body, leaving only the active metabolite and eliminating Adrafinil's harsh affects on the liver?
It would certainly reduce costs and make it much easier to import if it could be done.

There was a previous question posted here but it didn't seem to provide any conclusive answers:

It's not that adrafinil is "harsh", it's that modafinil is less "harsh". I wouldn't be surprised if big pharma made up the myth to help promote modafinil. Can anyone link an official study that adrafinil is dangerous?

If there were a new creatine that was even less harsh than today's creatine then sure we might buy that but it doesn't mean the original creatine was actually "harsh". It's just harsher in comparison.

Anything metabolized by the liver raises liver enzymes. That is pretty much most drugs out there. The myth that adrafinil is damaging to the liver is unfounded, and not based in any scientific fact that I can find.

I actually find adrafinil smoother than modafinil. It's like taking Vyvanse instead of Dexedrine. The body is its own rate-limiting control. I don't see anyone spreading myths that Vyvanse is more dangerous than amphetamine. However, that might be because Vyvanse is on-patent and can be profited on by the pharmaceutical industry. Since adrafinil is not, and modafinil is a big money maker, it doesn't surprise me that rumors get spread.
