Here to warn the community that I've experienced debilitating rebound anxiety when taking l-theanine. It was 100 percent this substance. Quit a week ago and back to baseline. Theanine is going in the trash.

Was never warned and only heard good anecdotes so thought I'd share.
Edit: you guys are so weird. Downvoting a "bad reaction" while the "Omg, theanine changed my life" posts are insta-frontpaged.
Exactly why I take recommendations in this sub with a grain of salt (you're right about modafinil) but I have a sneaking suspicion naysayers are being buried. This just confirms it.
I ordered theanine from a reputable supplier, took reasonable doses and experienced really shitty rebound anxiety.
Now, I'll leave you to your echochamber.
Edit 2: Thanks for upvotes guys. My apologies for jumping the gun. I received uproar right off the bat for what amounts to little more than an anecdote. I never intended this to be an indepth analysis of theanine. Just sharing my negative reaction.

What are you on about? You are currently the top post on /r/Nootropics, and nobody is attacking you. There are posts all the time talking about how things don't work for people. This influx of new users causing a reverse circlejerk is getting fucking annoying. It's obvious you are not here for the right reasons, which is advancing our knowledge of how to enhance cognition.
Everyone's brain chemistry is different, and things will always vary from person to person. You adding in your own hasty anecdote to the pile is not scientific, and is only doing that which you are complaining about. Just because you did not research fully before using a substance does not mean you can blame the community as a whole for your incompetence. There are plenty of anecdotes about L-theanine causing reactions like lethargy, headaches, and sleeplessness. Use the damn search bar...
