A Montana man is facing life in federal prison for growing marijuana in compliance with Montana's medical marijuana law --"While Jerry Sandusky got a 30-year minimum sentence for raping young boys, Mr. Williams is looking at a mandatory minimum of more than 80 years for marijuana . . ."

No - crimes are not all born equal. There's a difference between a felony, a misdemeanor, and an infraction.
If you're committing a felony (or some misdemeanors), having a firearm within reach will up the sentence considerably.

Ok, so it's dependent on the severity of the crime. Is there any way to find out which ones are covered under the law? I would think that it would be only violent crimes, but this whole drug case puts that out the window...
