InfiniFiber: Advanced Synbiotic Fiber by Nootropic Depot

InfiniFiber is officially available.

We engineered InfiniFiber as an advanced synbiotic, combining 11 distinct fibers with a spore-forming probiotic (LactoSpore®). Rather than a standard bulk supplement, we designed this formula specifically around fermentation kinetics.

By utilizing multiple fiber types with 5 different fermentation speeds, we're able to:

* Minimize GI Discomfort: Staggered fermentation rates mitigate the rapid gas production (bloating) common with standard fiber supplements.
* Maximize Microbial Support: Acts as targeted substrates to support 40+ beneficial microbial species throughout the entire digestive tract.
* Drive SCFA Production: Optimized to support the production of key short-chain fatty acids like propionate for metabolic health and satiety.
* Deliver Synbiotic Synergy: Pairs a precise balance of fermentable and non-fermentable fibers with highly stable LactoSpore® to ensure gastric survivability and efficacy.

You almost lost your wife to psyillum husk, what the fuck. I didn't expect to read such a bizarre story today. I'm glad she is okay now.

Do you know what dose of psyllium husk she was taking?

And regarding Infinifiber, it swells less than psyllium husk, but does it also have the potential to harden if you don't drink enough water?

It would be good to know if Infinifiber might cause similar issues in people that have problems feeling thirst/don't drink enough water.

Right? Like what the fuck?!? Just totally insane! It was not a fun time. I was okay at first, just going into logical robot mode to solve the problem. However, when they wheeled her away in the operating bed, we let our 2 year old son ride on the bed with her, because he was in the room with us. When we got to the doors where we couldn't go with, I had to have him say goodbye to mommy and take him with me. As we walked away, he started crying saying "Where mama go?!?" That broke me. I know everyone always says having kids changes you, but you really can't understand that till you go through it. There is something visceral that triggers inside you when you hear your child like that in a situation like that. Luckily we had an amazing surgeon, and everything went as well as it could have, so it all turned out okay. However, it really did light a fire underneath us to take GI health seriously.

She was taking 14 grams of the NOW Foods psyllium husk and a scoop of Garden Of Life Super Seed. That likely would have been fine if she had increased her water intake to account for it, but she didn't. For some reason it is like a chore to get her to drink a lot of water. When we first met when we were younger, we would go out to clubs or concerts and I could never get her to drink any damn water! She would turn into the honey badger when she got drunk, and it was literally like trying to get a wild animal to drink water! LOL. She has tons of those damn Stanley insulated metal water bottles, so she always has access to water. However, she sips on them over time. I just down 32oz of water at a time if I need more hydration. I'm constantly drinking water. She doesn't do that. Well now she is taking it more seriously, at least.

Could it happen with InfiniFiber and not drinking enough water? Probably not, but anything is possible. The amount of gelling that happens with psyllium is pretty crazy. You can experiment with it at home. Fill some glasses with a set amount of water, then mix in different types of fibers and see what happens. The psyllium will gel up and expand into a solid mass fairly quickly. When this happens in your GI tract, and you don't follow it up with enough water, it pulls the water from the walls of your intestines. This is how it creates blockages. It expands into a mass that then pulls moisture from the intestinal walls themselves, and blocks everything from moving. If you have any weird shapes/bends in your intestines, or you have injuries that created scar tissue you don't know about, it can go 0-100 really quickly. I guess it is easy to have some scar tissue in your colon without really knowing it. Hers might have been from when she had a C section with our son. The surgeon said that is common. They basically pull out all your organs from your torso when they do a C section. I was there watching it. It was pretty nuts. It's easy to nick the intestines when having a procedure like that, and then that scar tissue can cause issues over time, even sometimes causing bridging and twisting the intestines themselves. Also, things like endometriosis can cause scar tissue to build up on the colon, which I was not aware of. So there are many ways to cause minor pinch points in your intestines. Then if you consume a gelling/expanding fiber like psyllium without enough water, it's the perfect storm of events to cause a complete colon blockage. From speaking to the surgeon, they see it all the time. The more you know!
