InfiniFiber: Advanced Synbiotic Fiber by Nootropic Depot
InfiniFiber is officially available.
We engineered InfiniFiber as an advanced synbiotic, combining 11 distinct fibers with a spore-forming probiotic (LactoSpore®). Rather than a standard bulk supplement, we designed this formula specifically around fermentation kinetics.
By utilizing multiple fiber types with 5 different fermentation speeds, we're able to:
* Minimize GI Discomfort: Staggered fermentation rates mitigate the rapid gas production (bloating) common with standard fiber supplements.
* Maximize Microbial Support: Acts as targeted substrates to support 40+ beneficial microbial species throughout the entire digestive tract.
* Drive SCFA Production: Optimized to support the production of key short-chain fatty acids like propionate for metabolic health and satiety.
* Deliver Synbiotic Synergy: Pairs a precise balance of fermentable and non-fermentable fibers with highly stable LactoSpore® to ensure gastric survivability and efficacy.

Would mixing one scoop with psyllium husk work?

Yes, but psyllium husk will gel and swell a lot more than InfiniFiber. This can actually cause issues, which I wasn't even aware of until last month. My wife was worried about all the increases in colon cancer happening, and decided she wanted to start taking fiber before we released InfiniFiber, so she started taking NOW's psyllium husk every day. Then one night she started having horrible abdominal pain. I was thinking it was just a stomach bug, and that she would feel better the next day. However, she didn't sleep at all that night. When I woke up in the morning, she was in such excruciating pain that I could see on her face we needed to get to the hospital. We rushed over to the ER, and luckily got her in before a rush of people got there. They did a CT scan without contrast at first, and they found a small bowel obstruction. I told them that she had recently started using psyllium husk, and they said it is a common occurrence in the ER. The psyllium is notorious for gelling up and swelling in the GI tract, and causing obstructions. They ordered another CT scan with contrast to get a better view of it, but didn't seem super concerned. We had been at the hospital all day by that point, and our phones were dying, so I decided to go home and get our chargers to bring back. I went home where my mother had been watching our son, and decided it would be good to take him back with me to see where is mommy was, because he was confused. So we went back to the hospital, and we were there literally 10min before the surgeon came in. I could see on his face something was up, and then I saw the team of people standing outside her room with a bed and surgery supplies. He said she had a complete bowel obstruction, and none of the contrast fluid got through. They needed to do immediate emergency surgery on her, or she could die very quickly if her colon ruptured from the pressure. It all moved very fast at that point, and frankly was very very scary. Her mother's best friend had died in that very hospital years earlier from a ruptured colon during surgery. Then having to take my toddler from his mom that he just barely got to see, and have her whisked away for surgery that she could die from... it was not fun!
Luckily the surgery went very well, and they were able to clear the blockage before an ruptures happened. However, I had no idea this was even a thing. I didn't realize it could go 0-100 that fast, and you could be watching your wife literally die from a ruptured colon because of fucking psyllium husk. Now her case was more serious than most. She wasn't drinking enough water with the psyllium, so it hardened into a mass that was easier to block off the GI tract. Also, she apparently has a longer colon that curves more than the average, which makes her more susceptible to blockages. Then there was some scar tissue on her colon, which they don't know the cause of, that really set it all off. However, it the doctors said they see it happen when people take psyllium husk and don't drink enough water. Pretty crazy.
