I took 2 pills, my mom and my grandpa and we felt nothing I dont know! I was asking them all the time and they keep telling me the same, I dont feel anything. Maybe is long term? It had no effect on my sleep, I was tumbling and Rolling on my bed, woke up couple of times. 🤷‍♂️

We know that supplements GABA and taurine induce a down regulatory affect on gaba when taken on a constant basis, does the same apply to Gotu?
Is it preferred to cycle it to maximize its efficacy?

A question about supplementing with taurine:

They found that chronic taurine use protected against the age decline in mice brains, at the same time there was a pretty large (35%) decrease in GABA sub-unit expression.

But: 'Such a chronic interaction of taurine with GABAA receptors may lead to downregulation of GABAAreceptor function or expression.

Inresponse to these changes, there is increased synthesis of GABA by GABAergic neurons, as compensatory mechanism to reduced post-v synaptic inhibition. Consistent with this, brains of taurine fed mice have the highest GABA content, increased GAD expression and reduced expression of the b subunit of the GABAA receptors.'

It’s important to note: Reduced GABAA receptor expression would increase excitability. Would taurine be beneficial or would it have a negligible effect when taken with Gotu?

Increasing GABA always has the potential to cause GABA receptor down-regulation. That's just the body trying to maintain homeostasis. Increasing BDNF can up-regulate GABA receptors, though. It's always about balance. So this is why building a stack is key. Magnesium pidolate has been shown to up-regulate GABA receptors.

Low vitamin D caused down-regulation of GABA receptors, so taking vitamin D daily can help balance that out.

Then taking some things that increase BDNF, like 7,8-DHF, Lion's Mane, Polygala, and Sabroxy, can help up-regulate GABA receptors. So combining other supplements is key to ensure that you won't get down-regulation over time.

It's going to depend on the person. What works best for one person might do nothing for you, or have side effects. We like to talk in generalities, but people's brain chemistries vary a lot more than most realize. So fin

Replying to Due_Following_4742 · I saw another commenter mention a correlation between BDNF and brain cancer, is this something to take seriously? I’ve cycled 7,8 dhf, polygala, Lions Mane at recommended doses.

BDNF is a growth factor, so it being correlated with cancer makes sense. That doesn't mean it is a causative factor. Cancer is out of control growth of mutated cells. They are still cells, though. So things that help the
